In March 1976 a group of UCD and Trinity Graduates who formed strong friendships during their student days got together with the intention of starting their own hockey team. In August of that year they officially applied to the Leinster branch to enter two teams in Leinster competitions the next year. An official AGM was held and Genesis Hockey Club was founded on 7th September 1976

The 1980’s was an extremely successful period for Genesis Hockey Club with many Genesis players representing Ireland and the 1st XI winning both indoor and outdoor leagues and cups. Genesis were The Indoor Hockey League winners in 1984.

Genesis won the Leinster Senior Cup and League during this time and were All Ireland Club finalists in 1981. The club grew in size and added more teams.

• 1st XI promoted back to Division 1 in recent years and finished a highly credible 4th in Division 1 in the 2017 / 2018 season

• Club Membership increased and new team 7th XI entered into Division 12 in 2017

​

• 2nd XI secured back to back league wins in 2015 & 2016 and promoted back to Division 3

• Provincial and International Masters representation at o40’s, o45’s and o50’s level.

• Host of highly successful international u18 tournament
