In March 1976 a group of UCD and Trinity Graduates who formed strong friendships during their student days got together with the intention of starting their own hockey team. In August of that year they officially applied to the Leinster branch to enter two teams in Leinster competitions the next year. An official AGM was held and Genesis Hockey Club was founded on 7th September 1976.​

The 1980’s was an extremely successful period for Genesis Hockey Club with many Genesis players representing Ireland and the 1st XI winning both indoor and outdoor leagues and cups. Genesis were The Indoor Hockey League winners in 1984.

Genesis won the Leinster Senior Cup and League during this time and were All Ireland Club finalists in 1981. The club grew in size and added more teams.

• Genesis Senior 1s promoted back to Division 1 this season and our Senior 2s have been promoted to Division 2.

• Club Membership increased and new team, a Development Squad/U25s who have been promoted this season.

​

• Three Teams reached their Cup and Shield Finals.

• Provincial and International Masters representation at O35's, O40’s, O45’s and O50’s level.​​

• A growing and successful Junior Section which now has over 420 players.
