Social

As well as the hockey, the club has a vibrant social side which at junior level can range from cinema outings and fun days to overnight trips. We believe hockey is a great was for girls to make friends and keep fit and has the potential to become a lifelong passion as it has for many of us in the club.

Communication will be via

Club Zap

This is the primary method of communication between the club and parents. Please ensure that your contact details are up to date and that you download ClubZap in order to receive all regular communication regarding training and matches. It is essential that text requests regarding matches are responded to within a timely fashion. Failure to do so may result in your child missing a match.

Email

You will receive emails from the club from time to time to keep you up to date on events, trips away, fundraising etc. Club email is managed by the volunteer committee and is not always checked daily.  Any urgent updates regarding attendance should be made on ClubZap.

Weather
Training and matches will go ahead in rain, however ice may cause cancellations. We will do our best to communicate with everyone in advance. Please check ClubZap regularly, particularly in colder weather and there may be additional messages on WhatsApp if a group has been set up for your player’s team/squad.

Equipment

Gum shields and shin guards are compulsory. Hand guards are highly recommended. Footwear should be suitable for Astro Turf pitches. We would also recommend sports gloves with grips, baselayers and hats for cold mornings. All girls must have their hair tied back off their face.

Matches

Matches normally take place on Sundays. Girls in 6th class to -U16’s play in an organised Leinster league. The younger age group play in several blitzes throughout the season, but the priority for these age groups is the development of hockey skills, teamwork and of course to have fun and be safe.

WELCOME

Genesis Juniors is a successful and vibrant part of our club which has been running for over 30 years. The club is committed to providing a safe and fun environment for young people to participate in and enjoy sport. The junior section of the club has grown to over 420 members and is vital to the future of the club. We have 24 coaches, coaching 10 secondary school teams and primary school groups from 1st - 6th class. We train and play on two adjacent pitches in Mount Anville School from 9:30am - 1.30pm on a Sunday morning. Our under 16’s train and play competitive matches on a Sunday afternoon in our Senior Club’s home ground at St. Raphaela’s Secondary School, Kilmacud.

Our coaching team is led by Peabo Lembethe who joined the Genesis family in 2023, with huge ambition for the club and has been steadily increasing our Juniors’ performance since then. Peabo has played for South Africa for many years, competing in 2 men’s world cup tournaments, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Commonwealth games to name but a few! He brings a huge amount of experience and talent to our coaching team – with coaching experience in schools and clubs both here in Ireland and in South Africa.
