Weather
Training and matches will go ahead in rain, however ice may cause cancellations. We will do our best to communicate with everyone in advance. Please check your ‘what’s app’, as well as email messages.

Equipment
Gum shields and shin guards are compulsory. Hand guards are highly recommended. Footwear should be suitable for Astro Turf pitches. We would also recommend sports gloves with grips, baselayers and hats for cold mornings. All girls must have their hair tied back off their face.

Matches
Matches normally take place on Sundays. Girls 1st year-U16’s play in an organised Leinster league. The younger age group play in occasional friendly matches, but the priority for these age groups is the development of hockey skills, teamwork and of course to have fun and be safe.

Juniors

WELCOME

Genesis Juniors is a successful and vibrant part of our club which has been running for over 30 years. The club is committed to providing a safe and fun environment for young people to participate in and enjoy sport. The junior section of the club has grown to over 350 members and is vital to the future of the club. We have 24 coaches, coaching 9 secondary school teams and primary school groups from 1st - 6th class. We train and play on two adjacent pitches in UCD from 10am - 1.30pm on a Sunday morning with all the added benefits of UCD’s excellent facilities. Our under 16’s train and play competitive matches on a Sunday afternoon in our Senior Club’s Home ground at St. Raphaela’s Secondary School, Kilmacud.

Social

As well as the hockey, the club has a vibrant social side which at junior level can range from cinema outings and fun days to overnight trips. We believe hockey is a great way for girls to make friends and keep fit and has the potential to become a lifelong passion as it has for many of us in the club.
