Director of Junior Coaching 

Genesis Hockey Club is now recruiting a Director of Coaching for their Junior Section for the 2021/2022 season.

Genesis Juniors is a successful and vibrant part of the club which has been running for over 30 years. The junior section of the club has grown to over 350 members and has 24 coaches, coaching 9 secondary school teams and primary school groups from 1st - 6th class.

The Director of Junior coaching will be responsible for:

​

• Overseeing Coaches – developing existing coaching base as well as adding to the existing pool of coaches 

• Overseeing all coaching sessions with a responsibility to ensure coaches are delivering up to date and appropriate sessions in line with Hockey Ireland's Hooked for Life programme. 

• Assisting with / overseeing session design/planning for the less experienced coaches 

• Assessing and implementing Hockey Ireland and Genesis coaching guidelines, adapting where necessary 

• Leading technical & tactical sessions for coaches 

• Ongoing assessment and development of the coaching team

• Assisting in devising optimum Coaching / Player Ratios and optimum Group Numbers

• Advising coaches on the development Club / Team ethos 

• Overall leadership role for coaches - seeking feedback, offering advice

• ​Managing the transition of players from one age group to another and 

• Monitoring playing populations and working with the Club Children's Officer to ensure high retention rates' 

• Working with Club Children's Officer to ensure the highest standard of child welfare/make the club child friendly and fun-based

The ideal candidate should have a minimum level 1 coaching qualification & 3 years’ experience with a proven track record in developing players and/or coaches.
